Our target audience

Target audience is a key thing to think about when a producer is creating a film. The BBFC are an organisation that rate the films, every single film will always have to passed by the BBFC before it is released.

Above are the existing ratings in the UK, they are U, PG, 12, 15, and 18. Our film opening will be rated a 15 as our target audience is teenagers and young adults. As LUCID contains violence and blood ect, this is something that is not appropriate for anyone under the age of 15 to view. The main gender that our film may attract would probably be men as men stereotypically like action and violent films more than women do therefore men may be enticed to watch our film. However anyone who likes a action film and who likes to get a thrill from a film may like to watch it so this could be women as well. Audience is probably the most vital thing to think about before creating a film because if this is not thought about carefully then you may not attract the kind of audience you want to. With out an audience the film would not be a success therefore the companies need to do all the can in order to promote their film to the target audience that they have chosen.

In our film opening LUCID the audience will be gratified by what they see as the sub genre is action; therefore the audience go to the cinema wanting to see a good action film that will get their adrenaline pumping and that will make them jump. I feel that our opening of LUCID will do this very well as there will be a killing in the sequence and the suspense will be built through the music which will gratify the audience as this will make them jump. They have come to see an action film and our opening is full of action like the murder in the opening.
